Chicago is proud to be presenting their annual Thanksgiving Day Parade! Join or tune in with family and friends this Thanksgiving to get in the holiday spirit! Gathered is some vital information that will help you get the most out of your parade experience!
When and Where:
Chicago’s Thanksgiving Parade will start promptly at 8:00 am CST on Thanksgiving morning (Thursday, November 27th, 2014). The parade starts at Congress Parkway, heads north on State Street, and concludes at Randolph Street.
In-Person Parade Viewing:
If you are planning on braving the winter weather and seeing the parade in person, we recommend that you arrive early to get a good viewing spot. It will be packed and you do not want to miss anything, so the earlier you arrive, the better chances you have of getting a spectacular view. The best place to view the parade is anywhere on State Street between Congress and Washington. There is also VIP Experience seating between Washington and Randolph.
Watching The TV Broadcast:
If you cannot see the parade in person, you can still watch it on TV! Live broadcasting will be available on WGN 9 Chicago for people in the Chicago area and on WGN America for national viewing. Plan ahead and make sure you know what channel to turn to by contacting your local cable or satellite provider.
What Will Be In The Parade:
Whether watching the parade in person or from your couch, you can expect to see:
- Giant helium balloons of famous characters.
- Spectacular floats with amazing designs.
- The best marching bands in the nation.
- Well-trained equestrian units.
- Local and national celebrities.
- Various performance groups.
